In addition, Exide will serve as an associate sponsor for the remainder of the 2009 NCWTS season on both RMM Tundras, the No. 5 driven by Skinner and the No. 81 driven by Raybestos Rookie of the Year Points Leader Tayler Malsam.
Skinner, the most recent winner in the NCWTS and current points leader, will carry the blue and black colors at Memphis Motorsports Park (June 27), O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis (July 24), Bristol Motor Speedway (August 19), New Hampshire Motor Speedway (September 19), Texas Motor Speedway (November 6), Phoenix International Raceway (November 13), and Homestead-Miami Speedway (November 20).
“We are excited to have a company like Exide Batteries partner with us this season,” commented co-owner Randy Moss. “Exide has been a part of the NASCAR family for many years and we are honored to carry their colors on our trucks. I feel they have the same goals as our team and that is to go out and win races. We got our first win as RMM at Kansas and now we need to go out and get one for Exide.”
This NCWTS season, Exide Batteries has served as Skinner’s primary sponsor for the three events held at Daytona International Speedway, Auto Club Speedway, and Atlanta Motor Speedway. Skinner posted a seventh-place effort in Daytona, followed by third and fourth-place finishes in California and Atlanta respectively. Also, Exide has been an associate sponsor on both RMM Toyota Tundras for the first five rounds of the 2009 season. Exide is the Official Battery of NASCAR and their partnership with RMM will showcase their involvement in motorsports.
“Exide’s new sponsorship of the Randy Moss Motorsports team further enhances the marketing opportunities of the officially licensed batteries of NASCAR,” said Bruce Cole, President of the Transportation Americas business division for Exide Technologies. “From the start, we designed the NASCAR line of battery products with the stringent demands of the racing engine and the increased demand from the modern passenger car in mind. With strategic marketing programs already in place through NASCAR, and the innovative marketing approach of Exide Technologies, consumers continue to request the Exide® brand of automotive batteries for their cars and trucks. In 2009, we are proud to be associated with one of the premier teams in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and look forward to an exciting season with Mike Skinner behind the wheel of the No. 5 Exide Tundra.”
Skinner and his No. 5 Randy Moss Motorsports team have come out of the gate strong through the first five races of the season. Together the team has recorded three top-five and four top-10 finishes and most recently a win at Kansas Speedway. The victory at the Midwestern track was the first win for Randy Moss Motorsports and co-owner Randy Moss. The Daytona Beach, Florida resident took over the points lead and is ahead of second-place by 25 points.
