EXIDE BACK ON BOARD: Exide Batteries will be the primary sponsor for the No. 5 Randy Moss Motorsports Toyota Tundra this weekend at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis. Exide, whose headquarters are located in Atlanta, has been the primary sponsor for Mike Skinner for a total of six races so far in the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season (Daytona, California, Atlanta, Texas, Memphis, and Kentucky). Also, the familiar black and blue colors will be on board the No. 5 Tundra for a total of five more races, with the next being at Bristol Motor Speedway in August. In addition to their role as a sponsor of RMM, Exide is the official battery of NASCAR. For more information about Exide and how you can start positive and stay positive, please visit www.exide.com.
RMM WELCOMES PC*MILER NAVIGATOR: Randy Moss Motorsports welcomes PC*Miler Navigator on board Skinner’s No. 5 Toyota Tundra as an associate sponsor for this week’s race at ORP. PC*Miler Navigator is changing the way commercial truck drivers work, as it is the first GPS navigation system specifically designed for company drivers, owner operators, and leased operators and the only way to get industry standard PC*Miler directions in the cab. For more information about PC*Miler, please visit www.pcmilernavigator.com.
SKINNER AT ORP: Skinner has competed in nine NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis. In those nine NCWTS races, Skinner has claimed two wins (1995 & 1996) and three top-10 finishes, including last year’s race at the .686-mile oval as the veteran finished in the 10th position. The 1995 Truck Series Champion has completed 1649 of 1753 laps competed (94.1%) and led a total of 371 laps at the legendary short-track track. Skinner has also claimed three pole positions, with the most recent coming in 2007.
CHASSIS CHOICE: This weekend, crew chief Eric Phillips and the No. 5 team will unload Randy Moss Motorsports chassis MDM-106. This is the fourth race of the 2009 season for this Toyota Tundra, as Skinner drove it to a third-place finish at Martinsville Speedway, 19th-place finish at The Milwaukee Mile, and most recently a sixth-place finish at Memphis Motorsports Park.
DOUBLE DUTY: In addition to his driving duties at ORP, Skinner will once again attempt to qualify the No. 36 Toyota Camry for Tommy Baldwin Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
DID YOU KNOW?: In the first two Truck Series races at ORP (1995 and 1996), Skinner led every lap of competition as he started from the pole and went on to cross the finish line first. During these two races, Skinner led a total of 350 laps.
MOST POPULAR DRIVER: NASCAR has created an online ballot for the fans to vote for their favorite driver for the Most Popular Driver Award. Fans are allowed to vote once a day, until the polls close on October 31, 2009. The results of the balloting will be announced at the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series banquet at the end of the season. Let your voice be heard and vote for your favorite driver!
PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: During last week’s race at Kentucky Speedway, Skinner finished in the second position, one truck length behind winner Ron Hornaday Jr. Despite a qualifying effort in the back half of the field, the veteran worked his way to the front and recorded his fifth top-five finish of the season. In addition, this was Skinner’s 85th top-five finish of his Truck Series career.
CATCH THE ACTION: The AAA Insurance 200 presented by J.D. Byrider from O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis will take the green flag this Friday, July 24th at 8 P.M. Eastern. Race coverage will be televised live on SPEED, beginning at 7:30 P.M. Eastern, and heard live on select affiliates of MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio Channel 128, beginning at 7:30 P.M. Eastern.
SKINNER (On racing at ORP): “Every time I race at Indy I want to win, probably because of the dominance we had in ’95 and ’96 when we sat on the pole, led every lap and won the race. I would love to win this weekend and I know that Eric (Phillips) and these Randy Moss Motorsports guys will give me a good Toyota to drive. If we could get out of ORP with all of our fenders on our Tundra, it would be a solid day. But, of course we want to win.”
