Mike Skinner on Racing at Daytona: “Well, I live in Daytona so this is a home track for me. Everyone wants to do well at the track closest to where they live. It is a very special track, because of all of the history that has taken place. I have been fortunate enough to win at Daytona during a Cup duel qualifying race and I would love nothing more to get my first Truck Series win there this Friday night. Daytona is such a cool place to win at – it’s kind of like Bristol. Bristol is the best short-track you can win on, and Daytona is the best superspeedway you can win on. I’m very excited and proud of all of my guys for all of the hard work that they have put in this offseason to get our No. 5 Toyota as fast as possible. And Friday is Randy’s birthday – it would be awesome to get Randy his first NASCAR win as an owner on his birthday.”
Mike Skinner on His 2009 Goals: “Well of course our goal is go out and win every race and win the championship, but I think it is very realistic for us to be in between those two marks. We have a shot at the championship for sure, but it really depends on how we come out of the gate. Eric Phillips, David Dollar, and all of the guys have been working their tails off getting everything switched over to Toyota and getting trucks ready to go racing. I feel very blessed and proud. We are going to go to Daytona and come home with a top-10 finish.”
Mike Skinner on Driving for Randy Moss Motorsports: “Driving for Randy Moss Motorsports is a great opportunity for me. David Dollar and Randy Moss (owners) have put together a great organization and with David’s years of experience, I see a very bright future for the organization. I’m very proud and pleased to be a part of it. I’m also excited to have a teammate like Tayler Malsam that I can help in anyway. Tayler is a great person and has lots of talent. I see a very bright career for him. RMM has lots of great people and I know the equipment is going to be very competitive. Everyone are real racers and I feel very good about Daytona.”
Happy Birthday: As the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series kicks off its 2009 season on Friday, February 13th, co-owner Randy Moss will be celebrating his birthday. Skinner and his teammate Tayler Malsam would like nothing more than to deliver Randy his first win as an owner on their boss’s birthday.
Skinner at Daytona: Skinner has competed in five NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races at Daytona International Speedway. In those five NCWTS races, Skinner has recorded two top-five finishes, both coming in the fourth position in 2006 and 2007. Skinner’s highest qualifying effort of third came last year in the season opener. The Daytona resident has completed 75.9% of all the laps competed (381 of 502) in the NCWTS. In addition, Skinner has also competed in numerous Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series races at the famous 2.5-mile tri-oval.
Autograph Session: Mike Skinner will take part in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series autograph session on Friday, February 13th at 5 P.M. in the Sprint Fan Zone. Come out and get an autograph from the 1995 series champion!
