Tayler Malsam – No. 81 Stocks for Tots Toyota Tundra

Pre-Race Notes and Quotes

Homestead-Miami Speedway

Ford 200

November 20, 2009

MALSAM AT HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY: Tayler Malsam will be making his 27th start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) when the green flag drops for the Ford 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway Friday evening. This weekend will mark the second time the rookie driver has competed in NASCAR competition at the 1.5- mile Miami-area track. Driving for Bill Davis Racing last season, Malsam started 22nd and drove to a 21st-place finish at this track in only his second career NCWTS start.

WOLCOTTS HOMESTEAD CHASSIS CHOICE: Crew Chief Doug Wolcott and the No. 81 team are utilizing chassis RMM-40 for this weekend’s event. This is the same truck the team ran at Memphis (Tenn.) Motorsports Park in June and was last run at O’Reilly Raceway Park near Indianapolis where Malsam qualified in the 10th position and drove the One Eighty Toyota Tundra to a seventh-place finish.

SPECIAL PAINT SCHEME FOR FINALE: The No. 81 RMM Toyota Tundra, normally adorned with One Eighty logos, will have a different look for the season’s final race. Like last year at this racetrack, Malsam’s truck will be adorned with Stocks for Tots decals. An annual event since 1989, this year’s edition will take place the evening of Tuesday, December 8 at the Charles Mack Citizen’s Center in downtown Mooresville, North Carolina. MALSAM’S THOUGHTS: “Like everyone else, we’d obviously like to finish the season out strong. This Randy Moss Motorsports team has worked really hard this season and I’m proud of what we’ve done. We’ve come a long way, and even though we were really hoping to win the Raybestos Rookie of the Year battle and to finish in the top-10 in the points, I think we should all hold our heads up high and be proud of what has been accomplished. We’ve had some really good showings and we’ve left a few racetracks scratching our heads and wondering why, but we’ve stuck together as a team and we’ve never given up.

“It will be nice to finish off the season at a track that I’ve already been to because we can spend more time in practice working on the setup of the truck and less just getting acclimated to the track. I think we’ve got a good chance of getting our Stocks for Tots Toyota Tundra up there in the top five and staying there all day. It’s always tough when you are finishing out a season. On the one hand, you’re ready for a break, but on the other, you always want one more chance to show what you can do as a team.”

THE SEASON’S STATS: The No. 81 team has posted one top-five and 10 top-10 finishes in 24 events this season. Malsam posted his best career finish at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Ill., when he took the checkered flag in the fifth spot. He currently holds down 12th position in the driver points battle, sitting 141 markers outside the top 10 with two events left on the 2009 schedule.

WATCH AND LISTEN: Race coverage will be televised on SPEED and heard live on select affiliates of MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio Channel 128, beginning at 8 p.m. (ET).
