SKINNER AT DOVER: Skinner has competed in five NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races at Dover International Speedway. In those five NCWTS races, Skinner has recorded one top-five finish and four top-10 finishes, which include the past two races at The Monster Mile (2007 and 2008). Skinner has also claimed the last two pole positions (2007 and 2008). The 1995 Truck Series Champion has completed 998 of 1000 laps competed (99.8%) and led a total of 108 laps at the Delaware track. In addition, Skinner has raced in six Nationwide Series events at Dover, where he has captured one top-five finish and one pole, along with 15 Sprint Cup Series races, where he has two top-10 finishes.
CHASSIS CHOICE: This weekend, crew chief Eric Phillips and the No. 5 team will unload Randy Moss Motorsports chassis MDM-043. This will be the first time that this Toyota Tundra has seen the racetrack this season with Mike Skinner behind the wheel.
HARD HIT: The last time the NCWTS raced at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, Skinner received contact from another competitor and hit the wall hard in a wild fashion. Thankfully, Skinner was not injured, but he was left with a damaged Tundra and a disappointing 29th-place finish. The team is ready to put that hard hit behind them and look to capture the one-of-a-kind Monster trophy this weekend.
DOUBLE DUTY: As announced earlier in the week, Skinner will assume driving duties of the No. 36 Toyota in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for Tommy Baldwin Racing. Skinner will pilot the Camry for 17 of the final 25 races of the NSCS season. The full-time Truck Series driver will make his debut with the team this weekend at Dover.
NUMBER TWO: Skinner, the 1995 Truck Series Champion, currently sits second in the NCWTS championship point standings, only 84 points behind leader Ron Hornaday Jr.
THE FIRST SIX: Through the first six races of the 2009 NCWTS season, Skinner and his No. 5 Randy Moss Motorsports team have accumulated one win at Kansas Speedway in April, three top-five finishes, along with four top-10 finishes. The team has only one DNF (Did Not Finish), as a result of their wild crash during the most recent NCWTS race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
SUMMER STRETCH: Friday’s 200-lap race at The Monster Mile starts a five-week racing stretch for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Skinner and his No. 5 Toyota team will travel for the next five weeks across the United States and look to bring home another victory for Randy Moss Motorsports.
CATCH THE ACTION: The AAA Insurance 200 from Dover International Speedway will take the green flag this Friday, May 29th at 5 P.M. Eastern. Race coverage will be televised on a tape-delayed basis on SPEED, beginning at 8 P.M. Eastern, and heard live on select affiliates of MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio Channel 128, beginning at 5 P.M. Eastern.
SKINNER (On racing at Dover International Speedway): “I love racing at Dover and racing at all of the concrete tracks. I got my very first top-10 in the Cup Series at Dover and even though I have had some tough luck at that track, I always seem to run pretty well there. It’s one of my favorite racetracks that we go to.”
SKINNER (On what it takes to win at Dover): “I have had the race won twice and had the caution come out and cost me from winning it once and then I have had the caution not come out and cost me from winning. It’s like winning anywhere – everything has to go in your favor, everyone on the race team has to have a good race, it’s not just one person. Pit stops and pit strategy both have to go flawless and everyone has to have a good day anywhere we go now to end up in Victory Lane.”
SKINNER (On driving the No. 36 TBR Sprint Cup Series Camry): “Tommy and I go back a long ways and I know that he is the type of person that NASCAR needs in the Cup Series. Even though my main focus is the truck, if we can help Tommy along until he finds that permanent driver that he needs to put his team to the next level, than it is an honor for me to get a chance to participate and to try and help him out.”
