MALSAM AT NASHVILLE: Saturday’s race at Nashville Superspeedway will be Malsam’s first NASCAR race at the track. Malsam competed at the 1.333-mile Superspeedway one year ago in the ARCA/ReMax Series. The Seattle, Washington native started the race in the 18th position and drove to a top-five finish taking the checkered flag in the fourth spot.
CHASSIS CHOICE: This weekend, crew chief Doug Wolcott and the No. 81 One Eighty team will unload Randy Moss Motorsports chassis No. 104. This will be the second time that Malsam has raced this chassis, as he captured a 13th-place finish at Kentucky Speedway in July.
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR UPDATE: With Malsam’s solid effort at Kentucky, the Seattle, Washington native extended his lead in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year Point Standings. Malsam currently leads second-place Johnny Sauter by a total of eight points. In addition, Malsam is the highest Raybestos Rookie in the NCWTS Championship Point Standings, as he holds the seventh position.
MOST POPULAR DRIVER: NASCAR has created an online ballot for the fans to vote for their favorite driver for the Most Popular Driver Award. Fans are allowed to vote once a day, until the polls close on October 31, 2009. The results of the balloting will be announced at the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series banquet at the end of the season. Let your voice be heard and vote for your favorite driver!
PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: In last week’s race at O’Reilly Raceway Park, Malsam fought back from a flat tire to claim his sixth top-10 finish of the season. Starting from the 10th position the rookie remained in the top-10 until the tire trouble dropped him back. Malsam was able to work his way back into the top-10 and take the checkered flag in the seventh spot. His top-10 run kept him in the seventh position in the NCWTS point standings as well.

MALSAM (On racing at Nashville): “We had a really good race last week at ORP despite the tire trouble. To finish in the top-10 gives us the momentum coming into Nashville this week. I’ve raced at Nashville before and had some pretty good success in the ARCA car last year. I’m looking forward to this weekend. I know we will have a competitive truck and I’m hoping to get another solid run for Doug (Wolcott, crew chief) and all the guys on the No. 81 One Eighty team.”
