VETERAN DRIVER MIKE SKINNER SCORES TOP-10 FINISH IN NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES FINALE

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (November 20, 2009) – Starting from the fifth position, Mike Skinner drove the No. 5 Exide Batteries Racing Toyota Tundra to a sixth-place finish in Friday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Earning a third-place finish in the driver point standings, it was the 1995 Truck Series Champion’s highest finish since 2007 and the fifth time Skinner has finished the season in the top five in points.

The No. 5 Exide Toyota sat atop the speed charts in the second practice session Thursday evening and was the 15th of 38 trucks to take to the track for his two-lap qualifying run early Friday afternoon. Skinner’s speed of 166.924 miles per hour around the mile and a half oval earned him the 5th spot on the starting grid for Friday evening’s event. The top-five effort marked the team’s 12th of the season.

Skinner took the green flag for the start of the Ford 200 and by the completion of lap one had moved into third. A caution flag on lap 32 of the event enabled crew chief Eric Phillips to call his driver into the pits for a four tire change and fuel. Phillips made air pressure adjustments to the fresh Goodyear tires and sent the No. 5 Exide Toyota back to the track for the lap 37 restart.

The veteran driver communicated to his crew that his truck was handling loose in and tight off the corners. He held down the fourth spot when the yellow flag flew once again. This time around Phillips called for a four tire change as well as a track bar adjustment to the truck in an effort to remedy the loose condition. Though still dealing with a loose condition despite the changes made to the truck, Skinner held down a spot in the top five at the midway point of the event.

A final yellow flag flew with just four laps remaining in the final race of the 2009 season, resulting in the need for a green/white/checkered finish. With only 11 trucks left on the lead lap, Phillips called his driver into the pits for a two-tire change. Returning to the track for the lap 135 restart, Skinner took the checkered flag in the sixth position.

This was the final stop on the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule. Mike Skinner battled to a third-place finish in the driver point standings and will accept the awards that come with that effort on Monday evening during the annual truck series awards banquet at the Loew’s Hotel Miami Beach.

ROOKIE CONTENDER TAYLER MALSAM SCORES TOP-15 FINISH IN FINAL RACE OF 2009 NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES COMPETITION

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (November 20, 2009) – Finishing in the 15th position in the final NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race of the season, rookie driver Tayler Malsam completed his first full season of competition having earned one top-five and 10 top-10 finishes in the No. 81 Randy Moss Motorsports Toyota. Malsam scored a respectable 12th-place finish in the driver points battle.

Malsam fought a tight handling truck in the practice sessions Thursday afternoon and the Doug Wolcott-led One Eighty Racing team worked hard to ensure the truck would race well on Friday. Malsam’s was the 15th of 38 trucks to take to the track for his two-lap qualifying run early Friday afternoon and his speed of 163.547 miles per hour around the mile and a half speedway earned him 19th place on the starting grid.

The green flag flew for the start of the season ending Ford 200 Friday evening and Malsam immediately let the team know that the truck was bottoming out. Crew Chief Doug Wolcott made plans to make a chassis adjustment to ease that problem as well as a four tire change during the first pit stop of the evening, which came during a caution period on lap 34. Malsam returned to the track in the 21st position and battled for a spot in the top 20 during the ensuing laps.

Wolcott had another opportunity to make changes to the One Eighty Racing Toyota during a pit stop on lap 60. Malsam was fighting a tight handling truck and Wolcott called for a track bar adjustment and fuel during that stop. Wolcott opted not to change tires and that decision moved the No. 81 Randy Moss Motorsports Toyota Tundra into fourth place for the lap 63 restart.

Unable to hold off those trucks with fresher tires, Malsam fell through the field a bit, but fought hard to remain in the top 15. A late caution resulted in a green/white/checkered flag finish and Malsam crossed the finish line for the final time during the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season in 15th place.

Malsam finished up his rookie season in 12th place in the driver point standings.

Tayler Malsam – No. 81 Stocks for Tots Toyota Tundra

Pre-Race Notes and Quotes

Homestead-Miami Speedway

Ford 200

November 20, 2009

MALSAM AT HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY: Tayler Malsam will be making his 27th start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) when the green flag drops for the Ford 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway Friday evening. This weekend will mark the second time the rookie driver has competed in NASCAR competition at the 1.5- mile Miami-area track. Driving for Bill Davis Racing last season, Malsam started 22nd and drove to a 21st-place finish at this track in only his second career NCWTS start.

WOLCOTTS HOMESTEAD CHASSIS CHOICE: Crew Chief Doug Wolcott and the No. 81 team are utilizing chassis RMM-40 for this weekend’s event. This is the same truck the team ran at Memphis (Tenn.) Motorsports Park in June and was last run at O’Reilly Raceway Park near Indianapolis where Malsam qualified in the 10th position and drove the One Eighty Toyota Tundra to a seventh-place finish.

SPECIAL PAINT SCHEME FOR FINALE: The No. 81 RMM Toyota Tundra, normally adorned with One Eighty logos, will have a different look for the season’s final race. Like last year at this racetrack, Malsam’s truck will be adorned with Stocks for Tots decals. An annual event since 1989, this year’s edition will take place the evening of Tuesday, December 8 at the Charles Mack Citizen’s Center in downtown Mooresville, North Carolina. Please visit www.stocksfortots.com for additional information.

MALSAM’S THOUGHTS: “Like everyone else, we’d obviously like to finish the season out strong. This Randy Moss Motorsports team has worked really hard this season and I’m proud of what we’ve done. We’ve come a long way, and even though we were really hoping to win the Raybestos Rookie of the Year battle and to finish in the top-10 in the points, I think we should all hold our heads up high and be proud of what has been accomplished. We’ve had some really good showings and we’ve left a few racetracks scratching our heads and wondering why, but we’ve stuck together as a team and we’ve never given up.

“It will be nice to finish off the season at a track that I’ve already been to because we can spend more time in practice working on the setup of the truck and less just getting acclimated to the track. I think we’ve got a good chance of getting our Stocks for Tots Toyota Tundra up there in the top five and staying there all day. It’s always tough when you are finishing out a season. On the one hand, you’re ready for a break, but on the other, you always want one more chance to show what you can do as a team.”

THE SEASON’S STATS: The No. 81 team has posted one top-five and 10 top-10 finishes in 24 events this season. Malsam posted his best career finish at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Ill., when he took the checkered flag in the fifth spot. He currently holds down 12th position in the driver points battle, sitting 141 markers outside the top 10 with two events left on the 2009 schedule.

WATCH AND LISTEN: Race coverage will be televised on SPEED and heard live on select affiliates of MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio Channel 128, beginning at 8 p.m. (ET).

IN NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES COMPETITION IN PHOENIX

AVONDALE, Ariz. (November 13, 2009) – Battling back from starting at the back of the pack, Mike Skinner drove the No. 5 Exide Batteries Toyota Tundra to a sixth-place finish in Friday’s running of the Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway. The effort marked the team’s 16th top-10 finish of the season.

Skinner posted top-10 speeds in both of the practice sessions Thursday evening. The No. 5 Exide Toyota Tundra was the 24th of 36 trucks to take to the track for his two-lap qualifying run early Friday afternoon. Skinner’s speed of 128.986 miles per hour around the one-mile oval earned him the 12th spot on the starting grid for Friday evening’s event. Unfortunately, the veteran driver was late to arrive to the drivers meeting earlier that day and the No. 5 Toyota was forced to the back of the field for the start of the event.

Skinner took the green flag for the start of the Lucas Oil 150 and immediately began his ascent to the front. By lap five of the 150-lap event, the No. 5 Exide Toyota Tundra held down 24th position, and when the first caution flag of the day flew on lap eight, Skinner had already driven into 21st place.

The second yellow flag of the evening waved on lap 35 and crew chief Eric Phillips called his driver into the pits for the first scheduled pit stop of night. Because Skinner had communicated to his crew that the Randy Moss Motorsports truck was loose in the gas, Phillips made air pressure adjustments to both rear tires in an effort to tighten up the handling of the machine. After filling the tank with fuel and making a four-tire pit stop, the team sent Skinner back out on the track for the lap 39 restart in the seventh spot.

Skinner continued to experience a loose handling condition, but remained in the top 10. A lap 92 caution enabled Phillips to make chassis adjustments to the truck, which had gone from loose to tight in the closing laps of the run.

Skinner was running in the seventh position with 50 laps remaining in the event and was able to muscle his way into sixth place by the time the checkered flag flew. The 1995 series champion remains in third place in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver point standings.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will make its final stop on the 2009 schedule next week at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The Ford 200 will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. (ET) on SPEED TV and on select affiliates of MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio on Friday, November 20.

ROOKIE CONTENDER TAYLER MALSAM FINISHES IN THE 17TH POSITION IN NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES COMPETITION IN PHOENIX

AVONDALE, Ariz. (November 13, 2009) – Making his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start at Phoenix International Raceway, Randy Moss Motorsports driver Tayler Malsam started the event mid pack. After making his way into the top 15 and running as high as sixth, Malsam took the checkered flag in 17th place after a last lap accident while battling for position with a fellow competitor.

Malsam fought a tight handling truck in the practice sessions Thursday afternoon and the Doug Wolcott-led One Eighty Racing team worked hard to ensure the truck would race well on Friday. Malsam’s was the eighth of 36th trucks to take to the track for his two-lap qualifying run early Friday afternoon and his speed of 126.752 miles per hour around the one-mile speedway earned him 19th place on the starting grid.

The green flag flew for the start of the Lucas Oil 150 Friday evening and Malsam communicated to Wolcott that the changes the team had made prior to the start of the event had loosened up the truck and thus Malsam was able to make his way into the top 15 by lap 13 of the 151-lap race. A yellow flag on lap 35 enabled the team to call its driver into the pits for right side tires and fuel, and since many of his competitors opted for four fresh tires, Malsam returned to the track for the lap 39 restart in the sixth position.

Malsam remained in or near the top 10 throughout the middle stages of the race and let his Randy Moss Motorsports team know that the truck was handling pretty well. Wolcott made no adjustments to the truck during a lap 93 pit stop and Malsam took the green flag for the restart in 14th place.

A yellow flag late in the race meant a green/white/checkered finish in the event. Malsam had worked his way into the 11th spot in the closing laps and was battling for position with the No. 16 truck driven by Brian Scott when the two made contact. Malsam’s truck spun and made contact with the turn four wall, resulting in damage to the rear of the machine. Malsam was able to drive the truck to the checkered flag, and completed the race in the 17th spot.

Malsam moved up one spot in the driver point standings, and with just one event remaining on the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule, holds down 12th place.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will close out the season next weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The Ford 200 will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. (ET) on SPEED TV and on select affiliates of MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio on Friday, November 20.

VETERAN DRIVER MIKE SKINNER SCORES TOP-10 FINISH IN NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES COMPETITION IN TEXAS

FORT WORTH, Texas (November 6, 2009) – Qualifying for the WinStar World Casinos in the 13th position, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series veteran Mike Skinner battled a loose truck all weekend before taking the checkered flag in Friday evening’s event in eighth place.

Skinner posted top-10 speeds in both of the practice sessions leading up to qualifying Thursday evening. The No. 5 Exide Toyota Tundra was the 13th of 39 trucks to take to the track for his two-lap qualifying run. His speed of 176.974 miles per hour earned him the 13th spot on the starting grid for Friday’s event.

Skinner took the green flag for the start of the WinStar World Casinos 350k and immediately let his Randy Moss Motorsports team know that the truck was still handling loose. Crew chief Eric Phillips called for a track bar adjustment during the first pit stop of the day, which took place at lap 20. Lining up in the fourth spot for the lap 23- restart, Skinner raced his way as high as second in the ensuing laps.

A caution flag on lap 56 of the 147-lap race enabled Phillips to make additional changes to the truck, including air pressure, track bar and wedge adjustments, before sending his driver back to the track for the lap-60 restart in eighth. Skinner settled into fifth place and let his team know that those last set of changes had helped the handling in the middle of the corners a little bit, but that the truck was darting all over the track. A pit with 50 laps to go in the race enabled Phillips to make a track bar adjustment to the truck and Skinner returned to the track in eighth, where he remained for the rest of the event.

The 1995 series champion was able to maintain third place in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver point standings. He now stands 355 points behind series leader Ron Hornaday and 158 markers out of second, with two events remaining on the 2009 schedule.

The series returns to action next weekend at Phoenix International Raceway. The Lucas Oil 150k will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. (ET) on SPEED TV and on select affiliates of MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio on Friday, November 13.
